Portfolio: Heroes

The COVID-19 pandemic has forced us all to take a hard look at our own mortality and reflect on the natural rhythms of life; how beautiful life can be as well as tragic. Heroes memorializes those who have passed from COVID-19 and everyone left without family support at the end of their lives because of governmental lockdowns. I believe those who have lost their lives during the COVID-19 pandemic are heroes; combatting adversity with courage and strength. The glass skull symbolizes our own mortality and how catastrophic COVID-19 is. Sculpted Forget-Me-Nots signify the cycle of life and how the world always continues after tough times. The medical mask represents the global pandemic.

Heroes is dedicated to my Nana.

Supported by ArtsNB's Arts Infrastructure Grant for New and Emerging Artists.
